Freshman Academy Sponsoring Golf Tournament!


 

Thanks to Mr. Jonathan White for launching a very successful First Annual Golf Tournament!
The event raised over $2,000 and $500 was donated to the Wig Bank!  The remainder will help support Freshman Academy.
Mr. White is presented check to Mr. David Icard, Wig Bank chairman.

Why Create a Freshman Academy?

Transitional research found that students moving from eighth grade to ninth grade had a statistically drop in the following areas of self-perception:

Attendance

Nationally, more students fail the ninth grade than any other grade.

Students who repeat at least one year are three times more likely to drop out of school than students who have not failed a grade.

Among 14-15 year old students who struggle with basic reading and math skills, 20 percent drop out of school within two years.
