General

Congratulations to Ashley Baker and Tylisha Dixon, who were selected to participate in the Mars Hill Chorus.  Approximately 1000 high school students auditioned to be a part of the 175 voice choir.  Ashley and Tylisha are both sophomores at Hibriten.

 

We will have a brief homeroom on Monday to distribute student report cards and Hibriten’s NC School Report Card.  Schedule:

Incredible portraits about “attitude” are on display in the media center.  Please check out the talent we have at Hibriten (and keep in mind…these works are created by Art I students).

 

The November 7 through December 12 Driver Education class begins tomorrow in Rm. A13 from 8:00 to 2:30.

 

Breisha Corpening will be conducting a fundraiser for the Women's Shelter during all three lunches beginning today and running thru next Friday.  She is doing the fundraiser as part of her NC Graduation Project to promote awareness of domestic violence.  Please support her by making a donation.

 

Mrs. Tuttle will begin selling prom tickets on Mondays and Fridays beginning next week during first and third lunch in the cafeteria lobby.  Cost is $40.00 – buy early and save!

 

South Caldwell High School’s Student Council is sponsoring a fundraiser for Ashlyn Pope.  On Tuesday, November 17, eat at Buffalo Wild Wings, place your receipt in the container provided, and 10% will be donated to help Ashlyn and her family. 

 

For those who are in Boone tonight, Ms. Martine has a painting being exhibited at the Turchin Center for an art show opening.

 

Once again it is time for the Boy Scout Popcorn Sale.  Several new flavors including Trail Mix!  See Mr. Taylor in Rm. A1 to order.

 

Faculty and Staff

Life Touch will be making identification badges for all faculty and staff members.  If you did not have your picture made in October, please do so today.

 

The Wilkes Playmakers will be presenting “The Wizard of Oz” at Benton Hall in North Wilkesboro on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:00.  All proceeds will go to benefit a cousin of Ms. Martine’s who needs help with medical expenses for her cancer treatments.  Tickets are $15.00.  See Ms. Martine if you would like to attend.

 

Seniors

College Application Day will be held at Hibriten on Thursday, November 19.  College Application Day is an event that gives seniors an opportunity to work on college applications during the school day.  Many private schools in the state waive their fees for the event.  ALL SENIORS that are interested in participating may sign-up in Ms. Gough's office, which is located in Rm. B14.  If you have not already signed up through one of your classes, please see Ms. Gough as soon as possible.

 

Juniors

Prom Committee applications for juniors are now available. See Ms. Hampton-Hogan in C20. The deadline is Monday, November 16.

 

Freshmen

The following students have been chosen as Freshman Academy students of the month for September and October: 

Makayla Barlowe, John Bumgarner, Will Haas, Carly Patterson, Melody Denny, Roberta Hewitt, Jared Parlier, Jake Taylor.  Please see Ms. Hampton-Hogan to pick up your pizza coupon.

 

Clubs

All Equestrian Club members that want to go on the field trip on November 23 need to turn in their signed field trip permission forms to Mrs. Starnes by Monday, November 16.  If your form is not turned in by that day you will not be going on the trip.

 

Art and Anime Clubs will be meeting every morning before school (with the exception of Mondays) to work on Christmas ornaments for the “Light up Lenoir” event and also on Veteran’s Day cards.  All members are needed to help.

 

Varsity Club members need to pay dues to Coach Reeves as soon as possible.

 

FAME Club dues of $10 are due to Ms. Lipford in Rm. C3 today.

 

Athletics

Men’s Basketball practice will be today in the main gym.

 

All girls interested in playing indoor soccer must register and tryout at the Hudson Recreation Department this Saturday from 11:00-1:00.

Congratulations to Priscilla Liu who was elected as our new Northwest District Beta Club president.  The Beta sponsors would like to thank all members who made the district meeting a success and special thank you to everyone on the skit committee.

 

We will have homeroom with B Clubs today.  Underclassmen pictures will be given out during homeroom.  Schedule:

All students interested in professional and leadership development that are enrolled in vocational classes, are invited to join SkillsUSA.  SkillsUSA will meet during clubs today in Mr. Tucker’s Graphics classroom.

 

FCA will meet in the Main Gym today during clubs.

 

Interact Club will meet during clubs today.  All returning members and newly invited members are welcome to attend.  Club dues of $10 can be paid at the meeting.

 

TRU Club will meet during clubs in Mr. Spicer’s Rm. B8.

 

FBLA will meet today in Rm. C3.  Any student who is taking a business class this semester or next semester may join. Please make plans to attend. 

 

Chess Club will practice today from 3:00 until 4:30 in T3. All interested students are invited to attend.

 

Beta Club will meet tomorrow morning at 7:40 in the theatre.

All girls interested in playing Softball in the spring need to meet in Coach Blanton’s Rm. C6 immediately after school today.  If you cannot attend, please see Coach Blanton or Coach Mac as soon as possible.

 

All girls interested in playing indoor soccer must register and tryout at the Hudson Recreation Department this Saturday from 11:00-1:00.

 

Weight training will be held in the auxiliary gym tonight from 5:30-6:30.

The Jewelry Fundraiser for HHS Media Center is TODAY, Nov. 3 from 8:30 – 4:00.  50% of Total Sales will be donated to the Media Center to purchase new books this year. We are offering the following special: Purchase 2 items at regular price and get the 3rd item at 25% discount.  Everyone who orders will have their name entered into a drawing for the “Mystery Hostess” – the winner will get 30% - 50% (depending on retail sales) of the total retail sales in FREE JEWELRY!!!  WOW, this is a great opportunity to support your Media Center when you shop with Premier Designs Jewelry!

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. announces its Annual National High School Essay Contest.  Four scholarships will be awarded ranging from $500 to $3000.   The contest is open to any college-bound high school senior.  For more information, please see Mr. Fuller in the Freshmen Academy Office or Ms. Lipford in Rm. C3.
