General

The Photo Contest deadline has been extended to Thursday.  Please submit entries tomorrow through Thursday.

 

The Art Club is sponsoring a Valentine Wall.  Deadline is Thursday.  Valentines must include the recipient’s first and last name. 

 

Savannah Tester, Sarah Beth Potter, Jennifer Hamilton, Carrie Arnold, Caleb Sigmon, Nathan Dilling, and Nathan Pope will be representing the Lenoir Fire Department tomorrow in Asheville at the regional Firefighter's convention as a part of the S.A.F.E. program.

 

All students in the gospel chorus for BIG RIVER should meet in the theatre after school to rehearse THE CROSSING.

 

Underclassmen Spring Pictures will be made this Thursday in the theatre.  No money is needed on Thursday as pictures will be sent home for approval.  Parents may choose to purchase all of part of the package or return the package to school.  Student were given package information last week – additional forms are available in the office.

 

Mrs. Tuttle will be selling Prom tickets each Friday in the cafeteria lobby during first and third lunch.  Cost during the month of February is $50.00.  You may also see her during the day in A14. 

 

The March 13th SAT registration deadline has been extended to Wednesday, February 10.  Students can register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.com.  If you need help registering, please see Ms. Gough or your school counselor.

 

Appalachian State University’s SAT Preparation Program is being offered once again on our campus on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, prior to the May 1, 2010 test date.  Dates are April 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, and 24, 2010.  Students may access information and register online at www.camps.appstate.edu. This comprehensive program offers ten hours of instruction in math, ten hours in verbal preparation and a two-hour session in test taking skills and strategies, for a total of twenty-two hours.

 

Stumps is sponsoring a Proms Across America Contest.  To vote for Hibriten, go to http://www.stumpsparty.com/service.cfm?page=votepromusa.  Please vote as many times as possible before March 15.

Seniors

Seniors:  Have you been wondering how you are going to pay for college?  Did the money tree in your backyard shrivel and die?  Then attend FAFSA Day at CCC&TI on Saturday, February 13, from 9:00 am -12:00 pm and receive help in completing the free application for federal student aid.  Register for the event at cfnc.org or see Mrs. Hoffa or Ms. Gough in B14 for more information.   

If you have applied to Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, Davidson, Harvard, or other selective schools across the country, then you need to fill out a financial aid form called the CSS/Profile in addition to filing the FAFSA.  Go to profileonline.collegeboard.com by February 15 to complete the form.  See Ms. Gough for more information.

 

Hibriten will host an after school financial aid application workshop from 3 - 6 pm Tuesday, February 23.  If you need help filing the FAFSA or CSS/Profile, then check out one of these workshops.  Please contact Ms. Gough for more information.

 

Mandatory senior class dues of $15.00 are now payable to your homeroom teacher.  Please pay these dues before Monday, March 1.  After this date, dues will begin increasing by 50 cents per day until paid.

 

Sophomores

Signed permission forms for Careers in Focus, which will be held on February 17 at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center, must be turned in to your English teacher by Wednesday, February 10.

 

Clubs

Varsity Club will meet this Wednesday.  All Varsity Club members can see Coach Reeves to pick up their club cards.

 

All Beta Club students attending the state convention are to meet immediately after school today on the stage in the gym to help prepare for PQ's presidential skit.  Please make plans to attend.

 

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will begin a six part study of the Competitor’s Creed tomorrow morning.  FCA Tuesday morning bible study begins at 7:30 in Rm. B7 this semester.  Breakfast snacks will be served.  All students and faculty are invited to attend.  Student athletes are especially encouraged to come and find out more about what it means to be a Christian Competitor. 

 

Athletics

The varsity men’s basketball team will practice at 5:30 today.
