General

For only $5, your message can appear in the December issue of On The Prowl, Hibriten’s newspaper.  Staff members will be selling ads during all three lunches today through December 9.  All proceeds help pay for printing costs for the school newspaper.  Buy your ad today!

 

A black and brown plott hound is available for $50.  If interested, see Heidi Greer.

 

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate their loose change to “KA$H for KIDS” today through Monday.  Proceeds will be used to help needy children in our state.  The collection jar is located in the office. 

 

There will be a “Rainbow” carnival at Whippoorwill Village this weekend with hayrides, games, etc. for children and music performances by The Neighbors, Jackie Finley as Patsy Cline and the Acappella Fellows.  All funds raised will go to Ms. Martine’s cousin who is battling cancer.  If you need directions or more information, come by the art room.

 

Battle of the Bands will be held on Sunday, November 22, from 3:00 to 10:00 pm at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte.  Isaac Bolick and Aaron Green will be playing.  Ticket cost is $10.00.  See Isaac or Aaron for more details.

 

The SAT Prep classes will be having a yard sale to support Ashlyn Pope tomorrow from 7:00-11:00 am.  Students are asked to clean out their closets and drawers.  Bring in fall and/or winter, gently used articles of clothing that would be appropriate for teenagers to your first period teacher this week.  The first period class that brings the most items will be treated to breakfast by Mr. Wright on Monday. This is a great point opportunity for Beta students.  See Mrs. Beard in B13 for more details.

 

The Hibriten Band is currently running their annual citrus fundraiser. 2/5 Bushel boxes of navel oranges, tangelos, and grapefruit are available. The fruit will arrive before Christmas break. See Mr. Townsend or any Hibriten band student to purchase a box.

 

Mrs. Tuttle will be selling prom tickets today during first and third lunch in the cafeteria lobby.  Cost is $40.00 – buy early and save!

 

South Caldwell High School is sponsoring a benefit concert for Catherine Peake tomorrow at 6:00 pm at South Caldwell.  The concert will feature “Fourgiven”.  The public is invited to attend.

 

Seniors

Any Senior interested in law enforcement should see Crystal Swanson in A14 about an interesting field trip to the NC State Trooper's Training Facility.

 

Clubs

Art and Anime Clubs will meet after school at the square in downtown Lenoir to decorate the trees. We will also take club pictures at that time.  Thanks to all of the club members who have helped make the ornaments!

 

The Equestrian Club is selling candy bars to raise money for abused and neglected horses.  All candy bars are $1.  See any Equestrian Club member or stop by the office lobby after school this week.

 

Athletics

There will be a mandatory women's soccer meeting in Mrs. Greeno-Bridges' room immediately after school Monday.  All girls planning to play soccer in the spring must attend.

Attention ALL ART CLUB AND ANIME CLUB MEMBERS:  YOUR HELP IS NEEDED IN THE ART ROOM EVERY MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS.  FRIDAY IS OUR LAST DAY TO FINISH UP THE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS.  Thanks to all of the members who are showing up each day to work.  We will meet in downtown Lenoir on Friday after school to decorate the trees, drink hot chocolate and eat cookies.  Be a part of the fun!

College Application Day will be held at Hibriten tomorrow.  College Application Day is an event that gives seniors an opportunity to work on college applications during the school day.  Many private schools in the state waive their fees for the event.  ALL SENIORS that are interested in participating may sign-up in Ms. Gough's office, which is located in Rm. B14.  If you have not already signed up through one of your classes, please see Ms. Gough as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Mr. Taliana and the Chess Team as they placed 3rd at the Lenoir Open Chess Tournament. Team members were Josh McMenemy, Doulgas Terry, and Zack Tanner.

 

The AFS Executive Council will meet in Mr. Spicer’s room at 7:30 tomorrow morning.  Please be prompt.
