Club News
Membership in Student Clubs at Hibriten High School plays an integral part of a student's life while in school. Students are encouraged to participate in at least two clubs per year which meet on an A and B Schedule. Students may also join other clubs which meet at other times during the day (such as before or after school). Please check out the following list of HHS Clubs, some of their duties and responsibilities and activities planned for the year.
"A"
Clubs at HHS
AFS, Key, Earth Tomorrow, Fame, Tri M
AFS: American Field Service is open to any student who wishes to be involved with visiting exchange students and club activities. AFS sponsors many community service projects. The highlight of the year is a group exchange with another high school in the United States. Membership is by application. Meeting Place: Theatre. Sponsor: Mr. Spicer
Earth Tomorrow: ET is open to all students interested in creating awareness about environmental issues. Meeting Place: Room A2. Sponsor: Mrs. Bradley.
FAME: Future Advancement for Minority Education is open to any student concerned about minority relationship and issues. Meeting Place: Library. Sponsors: Ms.T. Lipford, Ms. A. Lipford
Key: Any student interested in involvement with service projects is encouraged to join Key Club which is the largest high school service organization in the world. The club is sponsored locally by the Lenoir Kiwanis Club. Meeting Place: Room A12. Sponsor: Mr. Wilson
Tri M: Modern Music Masters is an honor society for music students which acts as a service organization for the music departments. Membership is by nomination, testing, and GPA. Meeting Place: Band Room. Sponsor: Mr. Townswend
Varsity: Any athlete who has lettered in a sport may join and participate in club activities. Meeting Place: Room C6. Sponsor: Ms. Hamlet

CHESS: The Chess Club provides opportunities for students to learn and play chess. Membership is open to anyone interested. Meeting Place: Sponsor:
DRAMA: The Acting Club is the support arm for the two main stage productions of the drama department. Membership is open to the whole student body through dues and meeting attendance. Members are involved in fundraising, promotion of the shows, and social functions. Meeting Place: Theater. Sponsor: Mr. Scott
FCCLA: Family Consumer Community Leaders of America is open to any student
enrolled in Consumer Science or any senior previously enrolled. The purpose is to promote quality in potential homemakers. Meeting Place: B3. Sponsors: Consumer Science Teachers
FCA: Fellowship of Christian Athletes is open to anyone wishing to be a part of Christian fellowship, to serve the school and community, monthly speakers and activities. Meeting Place: Gym. Sponsor: Mrs. Robertson and Mr. Crisp
FBLA: Future Business Leaders of America is open to any student who is currently enrolled in a business class during the year, and who wishes to develop leadership skills, strengthen confidence in self worth, promote scholarship, and wants to be involved in business projects. INTERACT: This is a Community and International service organization sponsored by the Lenoir Rotary Club. Membership is by nomination from faculty and Rotary Club. Meeting Place: Gym. Sponsor: Carl Wilson and Coach Suddreth
POLITICAL ISSUES CLUB:
SADD/SAVE: This club is designed to make students aware of information concerning the hazards of mixing alcohol use and driving and to encourage a sense of responsibility toward self and others. The purpose of SAVE is to promote nonviolence in the school and community environment and to promote awareness and provide education about the effects and consequences of violence in our society. SKILLS USA: (FORMER VICA: Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) is a club open to all students who are enrolled in a Trade and Industrial Vocational class--Masonry, Electronics, Metal, Drafting, and Graphics. Cycling Club is a student-led club that promotes cycling through organized rides. Meeting Place: Room . Sponsor: Mr. Wright
