STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES 2009-2010

Tar Heel Girls State, a week-long workshop in the legislative process, will be held on June 13-19, 2010 on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury.  Junior girls who are interested in this opportunity should see their counselor in Counseling Service.

 

Attention Rising 11th and 12th grade students: Summer Internship Opportunity--

 

Career and Technical Education  will be offering a Criminal Justice Summer Internship Program.  The program is designed to educate and prepare high school students for careers associated with the criminal justice system.  Activities include 135 contact hours of presentations, tours, observations, hands-on experience, and field work experiences.  The program period extends from June 14- August 2, 2010

Student must be a rising junior or senior in good standing with respect to attendance, tardies, discipline, good citizenship, have an overall 2.5 grade point average and receive great recommendations from teachers.  Applications are located in Crystal Swanson's Office A-14.  Completed applications are due to Crystal Swanson in A-14 by April 21, 2010.    Please contact Elizabeth Crump, Criminal Justice Internship Coordinator with questions at 758-0516 or 828-292-6504

Camp Med

Camp Med 2010 sponsored by Caldwell Memorial Hospital and Caldwell County Schools Career and Technical Education is scheduled for June 21st - 25th.  Camp Med is designed for students who may be interested in a healthcare career.  Camp Med provides in-depth education and an opportunity to experience a hands-on hospital environment. 

Summer internships are also available for interested students. 

 

Rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students are eligible.  The application deadline is Thursday, April 1st.
