North Carolina High School Comprehensive (10th) Grade Test
North Carolina High School Comprehensive (10th) Grade Test
The North Carolina High School Comprehensive Test is a multiple-choice test that has two parts – reading comprehension and mathematics applications. The test measures knowledge and skills in reading and mathematics that the typical North Carolina student should have mastered by the end of the tenth grade. However, the knowledge and skills measured by the high school comprehensive test are not based on one high school course like the end-of-course tests. For example, this test is not designed to measure only the English II curriculum or only the Algebra I curriculum. Students who have received credit for Algebra I, and English I are exempt from taking the 10th grade Comprehensive test.
The 10th Grade Comprehensive test will count as 25% of the second nine weeks grade in each course in which a 10th grade student is enrolled during 2nd semester. This is the equivalent of 6.25% of the final grade for the course. Grades will be assigned as follows:
Level (Reading and/or Math) Grade Level IV - Both Reading and Math 100 1 Level IV; 1 Level III 93 Level III - Both Reading and Math 85 1 Level III or IV; 1 Level II 80 Level II - Both Reading and Math 70 Level I, Reading and/or Math 60
