Mr. Ed Wills, Principal
I grew up in Bethel, Vermont and attended Whitcomb High School where I was a three sport athlete and played on two State Championship teams. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. While at Carolina, I was a manager for the basketball team and a member of the 1993 National Championship team. I spent 10 years as a college basketball coach before becoming the boys basketball coach and social studies teacher at Alexander Central High School. I spent 19 years as a coach and teacher at ACHS before becoming an assistant principal there.
I met my wife Marnie, while at Carolina and we have a daughter Caroline who is 22. We spend a lot of our free time in Chapel Hill cheering on the Tar Heels.
Bachelor of Arts in Economics: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Masters in School Administration: University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Mrs. Jessica Overmyer, Assistant Principal
I am beyond excited to serve as an assistant principal at Hibriten High School. I am a Caldwell County native, and have served students in North Carolina as a teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal for 18 years. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, and a Masters in School Counseling from Lenoir Rhyne College, as well as my Masters in School Administration degree at Gardner Webb University. I previously worked at Hibriten High School as a school counselor from 2012-2020, and feel so honored to join the Panther family again.
My husband Cory, and three children, Cooper, Paisley and Baker are my world. My children love basketball, so in our free time you will typically find our family in a gym.
I look forward to meeting all the students at Hibriten, and learning with you all. The best part of my job is getting to know students, and building relationships to better the entire school. I can’t wait to kickstart this 25-26 school year, and serve this community and school.

Mr. Justin Hamby, Assistant Principal
I am honored to serve as one of Hibriten High School’s Assistant Principals. My career in education has taken me from teaching Mathematics in both Guilford and Caldwell Counties—covering everything from NC Math 1 to AP Calculus AB—to contributing as a member of the School Improvement Team and serving as a Professional Mathematics Tutor at the University level.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics Education from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, and a Master’s in School Administration from Appalachian State University.
In 2023, my wife, Macey, and I returned to her hometown of Lenoir to serve our local schools, invest in our community, and build our forever home in Caldwell County. Outside of school, I’m a proud “girl dad” to our daughter, Magnolia, and a dog dad to two spirited wiener dogs, Daisy and Rosie. I enjoy reading, golfing, and making the most of time with my family.
